It's the last straw for The Tavern Murrisk

The Tavern Murrisk have taken a different approach of the love fest surrounding Valentine’s Day this year they’re calling time on plastic straws and replacing them with environmentally responsible paper straws instead. It’s their way of loving the environment, not just on Valentine’s Day but all year round.

Plastic straws are bad news –they’re used once, tossed away and never biodegrade. In the USA they use a staggering 500 million straws a day which is enough to go around the circumference of the earth. Single use plastic just makes no sense.

“We’re right on the Wild Atlantic Way and we appreciate our pristine environment”, says Ruth O’Brien of The Tavern Murrisk, “We want to do our bit to ensure it stays that way. Giving up the use of plastic straws is just the first step we are taking.

“From now on customers at The Tavern will be offered paper straws instead”, she continued, “It’s amazing how many people have forgotten that plastic straws are a relatively new innovation – we all used paper straws when we were kids”.

This is the first step of The Tavern’s commitment to the environment. Further actions will be announced in the coming months.
