Events

There’s always something in the pipeline at The Tavern. Every Friday during winter it’s Curry Night. The Mescan nights pair craft beer with a matching menu. During the summer, The Tavern is getting quite a name for food related festivals.

With a selection of private rooms in a variety of sizes, The Tavern is a perfect choice for small conference or business meetings.

Curry Night

Curry Night is the Friday night staple during the long winter months. All curries are cooked to order and come accompanied with rice, grilled garlic flatbread, poppadoms, mango chutney and (just in case you need it) a cooling yoghurt and cucumber raita.
Curry Night runs every Friday night except during July, August and Bank Holidays.

Mescan Food Pairing Menu

Chef Myles enjoys matching food and drink flavours, and he has risen to the craft beer challenge in style. Each course on Mescan Night is paired with a different Mescan beer and the combinations are quite stunning.
Mescan is a local craft brewery, producing a varied range of Belgian style beers. Mescan Blond, Mescan White and Mescan Stout are joined by the powerful Mescan Tripel and sometimes seasonal specials. Chef Myles O’Brien has designed two very special menus to perfectly complement four different Mescan Craft Beers – Blond, White, Stout and Tripel.

Beef & Burgundy

Irish native rare breed Irish Moiled beef is the highlight of The Tavern’s Beef & Burgundy event which runs each autumn. There’s a chance to meet Seamus Heverin, breeder of the Irish Moiled Cattle and enjoy some complimentary tastings of beef and burgundy. The Irish Moil is a distinctive red and white cow which was once common in Ireland but almost became extinct. It is prized for the flavour and succulence of its beef. High profile owners include Prince Charles and Adam Henson, presenter of the BBC’s Countryfile.

Lobster Festival

First up on the May Bank Holiday Weekend is the Lobster Festival. The lobster theme takes over for the holiday weekend with lobster festival t-shirts and giveaways, music and of course lots of lobster specials. Euro-toques chef Myles O'Brien has created a series of signature dishes using the king of the crustaceans, including a mouth watering surf 'n' turf featuring lobster and fillet steak. Or, if you like your lobster ‘straight’, choose your own from the lobster tank.

Oyster Fest

Our festival for lovers of good food and traditional entertainment is the Oyster Festival which takes place at the end of the summer. A combination of seafood themed events include Oyster Opening competitions for amateurs and professionals, a seafood menu as well as lots of oysters of course. There’s live music all weekend and everything culminates with The Oyster Ball on Sunday night in The Tavern.
