Everything you’d expect to find in a proper Irish pub, a cracking range of craft beers and ciders, an appealing wine list and wines on tap. That all adds up to a pretty decent choice of drinks at The Tavern.

We now have a select whiskey tasting menu with some old favourites and some interesting options.

Craft beers include some very tasty locals including:

Mescan: Belgian style beers from just the other side of Croagh Patrick, named for St. Patrick’s personal brewer and perhaps the only beer in the world to carry a Lovers Warning on the label. Chef Myles O’Brien has designed two very special menus to perfectly complement four different Mescan Craft Beers – Blond, White, Stout and Tripel. Mescan also have comprehensive food pairing notes for each of their beers which can be viewed here (PDF, 1.5Mb)

Reel Deel Brewery: from north Mayo and named for the local River Deel . Quirkily named Irish Blond (confusingly an amber ale) and Jack the Lad.

Stonewell Cider: The Emerson family in Kinsale, Co. Cork make these delicious craft ciders from five carefully chosen apple varieties.

Check out the ever expanding range of independently distilled gins too. Our favourites are Loch Measc and Concullin gins, both distilled in Mayo.
