When we say our oysters are local we really mean it. They come to us straight from the pristine waters of Clew Bay, grown, harvested and delivered by Padraic Gannon from Croagh Patrick Seafoods. They’re always fresh as can be as Padraic and his refrigerated van make their way to our door nearly every day. It really is ‘shore to door’ as Padraic says.
Croagh Patrick Seafoods is a family business located in Kilmeena, just the other side of Westport from us. The oysters are grown in the Grade A waters beside the Gannon family house which is in a glorious waterside location with Clare Island on one side and majestic Croagh Patrick on the other. For a quarter of a century, the Gannons have produced fresh, delicious Clew Bay native oysters, award-winning Pacific oysters, mussels and clams for the local and wider market. They truly have the ocean in their blood.
Taste the Atlantic Croagh Patrick Seafoods is now part of the Fáilte Ireland imitative called Taste The Sea. Now visitors can take a tour of the mussel and oyster farm led by mariculturalist and shellfish expert Padraic Gannon himself. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of shellfish farming. It’s a whole new way to experience the Wild Atlantic Way.
Gourmet Greenway Croagh Patrick Seafoods is a founder member of the Gourmet Greenway. This food trail was devised to showcase the wonderful artisan food along the greenway - Mulranny, Newport, Westport and Achill. The Greenway is a wonderful cycling and walking trail which runs along the old Westport to Achill railway line. It passes very near to the Croagh Patrick Seafoods in Kilmeena.
